Sorry for the absence. Graesen and I have been in Florida the last 6 days. Here are pictures from the last 6 days.
We flew down so that I could run the Disney Princess Half Marathon with my friend, Jamie, again. The way down was a challenge. We left very early to make our 6am flight. Graesen and I were both very tired.
Graesen was wild in the airports (we had two long layovers) and threw tantrums whenever I tried to redirect him (from negative behavior). On one of the flights Graesen dropped a few cheerios and a flight attendant came over to chew me out twice during the flight for it. She wanted me to get rid of the rest of Graesen's snacks just because of those few cheerios. I have a feeling that she does not have any kids and does not know what it is like to travel across the country alone with a 19 month old. After our second flight of the day we came off the plane to find that our stroller was not there like it was supposed to be (we gate-check it so we can have it during long layovers). No one could find the stroller and I had to go through the huge hassle of lugging Graesen and our carry-on all over the airport to talk to different people who could track it and get a loaner stroller. Thankfully, the stroller was there when we got to Florida, but neither Graesen or I were very happy with how we were treated.
On the way down I got a message from my Jamie. She had been sick for several days and went to see the doctor that day. She was diagnosed with influenza b. Luckily Graesen has had the flu shot, but I have not (I am still hoping that I managed to avoid getting sick). We didn't really know what to do. We decided to have Graesen and I stay in a hotel for the night since our flight got in really late and my friend (and her sick husband) could get some more rest.
Graesen had to make some phone calls when we got to our room :) Don't worry, I unplugged the phone.
In the morning Graesen loved looking out the window to see sunshine.
Graesen and I went for a walk around the hotel and then Jamie's husband's grandma picked us up and drove us the two hours to Jamie's apartment. This gave Jamie and her husband, Taylor, some more time to rest. When we got there I took Graesen out to play at the apartment complex park so we could stay away from the germs. Graesen was thrilled to have some sunshine.
Jamie and Taylor have a 10 week old puppy. He is so cute and very well trained for his age. Whenever the puppy was out of his crate Graesen would try to climb in :)
Saturday we drove 2 hours to Orlando to get our race packets and hotel room for the night. We enjoyed lunch out at Disney Wide World of Sports .
Sunday was race day. This race is so fun. A lot of people where tutus and princess outfits. We decided to walk most of it since Jamie was still getting over being sick, but had a great time doing it. Taylor watched Graesen during the race.
After the race we went out for brunch where Graesen played with my medal. Then we drove back to Jamie's place.
I took Graesen to the park again, because he was getting really antsy from all the time in the car.
Yesterday, Graesen and I spent time just the two of us while Jamie worked. Graesen really enjoyed the big park we went to. After Jamie got off work we went on a nice long walk and enjoyed some more sunshine.
Today we got up super early (2:15 am) to drive two hours to the airport for our 5:30 am flight. We had two layovers again. I had Graesen run around and play as much as possible in the airports. He loves those moving walkways. He kept trying to go backwards on them and had the whole section of the airport laughing. It took him about 15 minutes to walk across the wrong way, but he did it.
We lucked out on our flights and got our own row each time on the way back. Graesen napped a lot for the first two flights, which helped a lot. We are exhausted from our 15 hour plus day of travel and can hopeful catch up on rest tonight.
Also, for some reason Graesen has started taking off his shoes and socks all the time. I caught him sucking on his toes multiple times during our trip.
