St. Patrick's Day and a screaming, red boy

Graesen started his day with some green oatmeal.

I had an afternoon job today and Graesen was not too happy that I was leaving him to go work for the 4th day in a row.

My mom watched Graesen once Evan had to leave for work.  She made sugar cookies with green sprinkles, and gave Graesen a gold coin and a little leprechaun she made.

As the day went on I started to notice that Graesen's face was getting kind of red.  It just kept getting more and more red.  I was thinking that maybe he was having some sort of allergic reaction, but couldn't think of anything he had eaten that was new to his diet.

Graesen fell asleep in the car, so I brought him inside and laid him down then started on dinner.  About 15 minutes later he woke up crying.  I picked him up, but he just cried harder.  Nothing would cheer him up.  Pretty soon he became hysterical.  He was screaming and arching his back.  He cried for me, but didn't want to be touched.  He ran around in circles screaming and then would lay on the ground and kind of thrash around.  It was not like a temper tantrum, but more like he was in a lot of pain.  I was just about ready to call the on-call doctor to see if I needed to bring him in (thinking this possible allergic reaction thing was worse than I thought).  Suddenly, he calmed down.  He was kind of spacing out and acting weird, but calming down (yet still grimacing every once in a while).  Within 10 or 15 minutes he was back to his normal self.  I still have no idea what that was all about.  His face is still red and I have been watching him to see if their is anything else I notice.  Also, today Graesen has had the hiccups around 7 times, literally.  He has been doing so good off his reflux meds until today.  He did eat a little spicy food at lunch with Evan, so maybe that set him off.  Maybe that is related to the freak out tonight.  I don't know.  The kid is a mystery.
