Mud Race

Today was our long awaited mud race.  Graesen and his two girl cousins (Addison and Phoebe) ran the kids' race with our help.  They went one mile and got nice and muddy.  Phoebe came with me since her mommy had to work.  Graesen loved it and seems to really get the whole idea of running in a race.  Phoebe was very nervous and I carried her most of the way.  Addison liked it until an adult jumped in the mud in front of her and made such a big splash that it covered her entire face.
After the kids raced Evan, my sister, and I raced the adult 10k race.  We had to climb over haybales, shimmy through muddy tunnels, go through mud pits, run through the river, climb walls and ladders, go across balance beams, and go down a giant water slide.  It was a lot of fun, but it was so hot!  We were actually tired before we got to the race, because it was so busy that we had to park about 3 miles away and run to get there on time.  We had fun anyways, although we ended up doing a lot of walking instead of running :)  The mud wasn't too bad until we started to get little rocks in our shoes that rubbed and we got scratched up from the haybales.  These pictures don't show how muddy we got by the end.  We didn't get any after pictures before we rinsed off.  Let's just say that I literally had mud coming out of my eyes and nose.
