One of my favorite memories of my childhood was watching movies as a family. My dad would make his famous homemade popcorn and I would just stand and watch him wondering how he could make it just right. He would split a few small bags of candy (usually skittles, sugar babies, and nibs) into little containers for each of us, and he would even let my sister's and I share a coke (we were a healthy eating family and getting to drink pop meant it was a special occasion). We would get out pillows and blankets and head to the living room to watch a comedy. All five of us together, slowing down, and just enjoying the togetherness that a family night can bring. I loved those nights. I always knew I wanted to do the same for my children. Tonight we did just that. We made some gluten free pizza (found a new mix that is much better than what I was using) and popped popcorn. Graesen gave us some pre-movie entertainment by dancing around the living room:
We chose to watch "Elf." Yes, Christmas is a long time away, but it didn't seem to really matter tonight :) We even let Graesen wear last year's Christmas pjs to make the night complete.
Graesen is currently cuddled up on Evan, soaking in the movie and family time, and slowly starting to fade. :)
Graesen is really into his puzzles right now. I love watching him play!
We went out for a run today and Graesen decided he needed some glasses for the ride. I guess he needed to block out the sun so he could nap :)
While cooking the pizza tonight our fire alarm went off. We need to clean our oven or something, because every time we open the oven while baking the fire alarm goes off. Graesen is terrified of the fire alarm. He immediately started crying and saying, "I'm scared!" I held him and explained to him what the fire alarm does. He then pointed to a yankee candle I had burning and said, "Fire, Fire!" When Evan got home from a quick trip to the store he said, "Daddy, I'm scared of fire. I'm scared of the loud sound it makes." Poor kid :)
