Graesen's insurance covers an extra fluoride treatment in between dentist visits, so we had a quick trip to the dentist today. Graesen was very excited about the toys, but started crying and squirming when it was time for fluoride. It was very short-lived, because they brought out a red balloon and Graesen is very into red right now (red everything means fire trucks). He also got a couple of tokens to get a prize out of the toy machine.
My cousin has been at our house the last two days doing some repairs. Two of our window sills needed to be redone, because they were done improperly and were leaking. We also had a bunch of outlets that weren't working. It's a good thing he came to fix it, because we were unknowingly living with live frayed wires in our walls. We are lucky our house didn't burn to the ground. Graesen loved having my cousin here. He kept saying, "Come here, guy! Come see my motorcycle!" (He could never seem to remember his name, and in case you were wondering Graesen refers to his tricycle as a motorcycle). After we all had lunch I was changing Graesen's diaper and putting his clothes back on. Evan went outside to take some garbage outside. Graesen immediately jumped up to see what he was doing, slipped on my shoes, and walked outside in the cold with just shoes and a diaper on. It was so funny looking that I grabbed my camera instead of making him come immediately back inside.
I have been working very hard at incorporating frequent prayers and talks about God/Jesus into our daily lives right now in a way that Graesen can understand. I feel so much responsibility for teaching Graesen about God and raising him in a way that honors God. I want so desperately for Graesen to grow into a God-fearing Christian man. Tonight I read the Christmas story to Graesen out of his little story book bible while he ate dinner. Graesen got very into it. It was super cute! We have been talking about how Christmas is Jesus' birthday and how Jesus made it so that we can live with God forever. I'm sure it's pretty confusing to Graesen, but he does seem to show a bit of interest in it. Tonight I showed him examples of how to say little prayers when he is scared or sad (since these are emotions/experiences that Graesen encounters and understands). He was so sweet copying the prayers after me :) He is also starting to memorize some of the lyrics to some Christian songs. I love it :)
After bath time Graesen was super wired. My aunt had called me and Graesen was running around me being silly while we talked. Next thing I know he got a big smile then leaned in and bit my leg! I immediately said "no" and that smile went away. I put him in time out and he just started to sob. He knew he was in trouble. After a couple of minutes I took him out hugged him and told him I loved him right away. Then I sat him down with me and showed him where he had hurt me. I told him that biting me gave me an owie. He sobbed and sobbed. I told him I loved him and asked him is he could say sorry. He did and just wanted to cuddle afterward. I think he felt really bad. I am hoping that means his biting days are over!
