Today I decided to make the most of my day. Being sad all the time gets exhausting. While I could not fix the problems in my life today, I could decide to be happy for the good things in my day.
I taught kindergarten this afternoon. Kindergarteners make me smile. It was Christmas party day too, and I'm one of those few people who thinks doing Christmas crafts and snacks with 18 kindergarteners is actually fun. I also met some great people at work today who have been through similar experiences to mine and were very encouraging.
When I picked Graesen up I decided that we were going to have a pizza/movie night. Just the two of us. Even though life is hard, there is no reason that Graesen has to go without all the beautiful magic of being little. We went to the store and picked up some gluten-free pizza crusts (I may not have celiac disease, but I still get major stomach aches when I eat wheat) and a red box movie. I made the pizza, cut up some banana, and set up a picnic on the living room floor. Graesen thought this was pretty awesome. He did not, however, think that the movie was awesome. About 10 minutes in he said, "I don't like this one. No, please, Mommy." Then he walked over to the tv and turned it off. In all fairness to the movie (Puss in Boots) Graesen has decided lately that unless there are trucks, trains, or some awesome songs (like Veggie Tales) in the first couple of minutes, the show is probably not worth watching. So, I found some Bob the Builder on netflix instead. We had a great night of cuddles and tickle fights.
