Birthdays and baby #2 week 6

A bunch of Evan's family members have birthdays around now, so we had dinner with his family tonight to celebrate.  Graesen was showing off as usual.  He also enjoyed a little time outside.

Before we left to meet up with Evan's family, Graesen wanted to play with a soccer ball that somehow ended up in our yard.  We have no idea where it came from.

Baby #2 Week 6

How Far Along: 6 weeks today

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 1 pound, maybe, or it may just be the fact that I ate way too much salty food for the last couple of days and am majorly retaining water.  We'll see what it is when my rings fit my fingers normally again :)

Maternity Clothes: Not yet, but I think it will be pretty early this time

Gender: No idea!

Movement: Not yet.

Sleep:Graesen has decided that we need to get up with the sun now days, so I am getting more tired.

What I miss: Nothing.

Cravings: Fresh veggies: green peppers, cucumbers, and carrots with a little ranch for dipping.  I also craved spaghetti from a specific restaurant.  We went there with Evan's parents and aunt today, so I got my craving taken care of.

Symptoms: Nausea.   Pain in chest.

Best Moment this week: Just getting excited to see my stomach start to grow.  It makes it all seem so much more real.

Cranky

Graesen threw a major fit at my mom's house today.  The fit continued half of the way home.  Then he fell asleep, and stayed asleep for 3 hours.  He only woke up because I made him wake up to eat.

After bath time Graesen insisted on wearing shoes over his footsie pajamas.

About an hour and a half after he woke up, Graesen was already fussing and wanting to lay down and cuddle.  He is a bit stuffy, so I am thinking he has a cold that is causing him to be tired and cranky.

Cookies

Lately Graesen will not nap for Evan.  He waits for me to get home from work then wants to cuddle up and sleep.  Evan was so excited when Graesen fell asleep today during lunch.  He sent me a text and took a couple of pictures once he laid Graesen down.
Graesen has been walking around begging for cookies the last couple of days.  I find this surprising since we only have cookies in our house once a month, maybe.  I guess the boy had a craving.  This afternoon I gave in and asked if he wanted to bake cookies.  He did, of course.  He was so excited that while I went to grab the sugar he took a bite out of a stick of butter.  I don't think he liked it :)

He needed a little sink bath after his baking experience.

While cuddling with Graesen tonight, I looked out my window to see an amazing sunset:

Playing baby

My mom found Graesen a doll cradle that is big/strong enough for him to sit in.  He plays with the one at her house, so now he has his own!  It is kind of funny, because Graesen rarely puts a doll or anything in the cradle.  He likes to sit in the cradle and pretend that he is the tiny baby.

Today it did not rain all day, so we stopped at the park while out for a run/walk.  Graesen loves being outside.

I found this blog post by a dad today.  It is pretty awesome. http://www.danoah.com/2010/09/you-just-broke-your-child.htmlhttp://www.danoah.com/2010/09/you-just-broke-your-child.html   Well, part of it is really sad, but the part about the importance of dads is really cool.

Miscellaneous

When I picked up Graesen from my parents' house after work today my mom said that Graesen was "acting like a 2 year old."  She was right.  He was sampling the terrible two behavior.

It rained/snowed all day...yuck!  It finally stopped tonight so Graesen and I made it out for a short walk.  That walk made me surprisingly tired.  I don't know if it is the pregnancy, the getting over being sick, or a combination.  I do know that it was probably good I didn't run, because walking today made me cough a lot.

Graesen and I also pulled out my old, totally cheesy pregnancy workout video.  Graesen danced along and was super into it.  It made me laugh.
(ignore Graesen's fingerprints all over the tv)

My morning sickness was really bad at the end of the work day today.  I was so worried that I was going to get sick in front of all the students.  Luckily, I didn't, and after eating a snack I felt much better.  Morning sickness is not fun, but at the same time I don't really mind too much.  I just feel so grateful to be pregnant.  During the few months I was off bc my pain started coming back pretty bad.  I was worried the endometriosis would hinder my ability to get pregnant.  I feel very blessed that God made it possible.

"I love fort"

I made a fort for Graesen today using his fort kit.  I was hoping it would distract him so that I could fold laundry without his "help."  No such luck.  He thought it was extra fun to fold laundry in the fort :)  He sobbed when I took the fort down tonight and kept saying, "I love fort."

He is Risen! Easter 2011

We had a great Easter, even though Evan had to work at noon.  We got up and got ready for church and then showed Graesen that the Easter bunny had visited his room.  Graesen got a large rake and shovel, a frog umbrella, a hand rake and shovel, gardening gloves, a plate with garden gnomes on it, a cup with garden gnomes on it, yogurt-covered raisins, a bunny sucker, and a very small amount of Reeces Pieces (the Easter bunny knows that too much candy makes toddlers super hyper).  We also had a little egg hunt before church.  Graesen only lasted through two songs before needing to go to the nursery.  He now knows that there are donuts during fellowship hour and kept trying to drag my mom off to find the donuts :)  The good news is that Graesen has finally gotten over his fear of being left in the nursery!  At the end of church Evan's parents gave Graesen a basket full of treats and a new toy car (both our families go to the same church).

After church we headed to my parents' house where Graesen and Phoebe had an egg hunt and played outside.  My mom made the kids their own fort kits for Easter (she also made Graesen's outfit, which I absolutely love).  The fort kits have several sheets with ties on them, ropes, clips, suction cups to use on windows, and a flashlight.  Graesen and Phoebe also got some kitchen tools for their play food and Easter bunny potato heads.  My mom got baby #2 a little Easter rubber ducky, a Christmas sleeper (since this will be a Christmas baby), and Christmas baby legs.

In the afternoon we headed to my grandparents' house for lunch.  Graesen would not eat.  That is so unlike him.  I think he was too excited to sit still today.  After lunch my parents, my sister, my grandpa, Phoebe, Graesen, and I (plus my parents' dog, Molly) took a nice walk by the river and found a geocache.  It was so nice out today and it was great to spend some time outside.  After our walk we headed back for dessert.  My mom used Graesen's fort kit to make a fort for the kids to play in.  This was a big hit, although Graesen kept trying to climb on top of or through it!  After that Graesen started to throw a huge fit and then fell asleep in my arms (around 5:30).  He is still asleep, so I guess he is sleeping through the night.

Some Easter fun and Week 5 for baby #2

Evan has to work tomorrow, so we did a little Easter celebrating with his parents today.  We went out to breakfast and then headed up to a local farm for an egg hunt.  Graesen was scared of the Easter bunny at first, but grew to love him by the time we left.  We rode on a little tractor ride out to the apple orchard where there were eggs for the kids to hunt.  When we got back everyone got to eat ice cream cones.  We also got to see baby chickens and baby ducks.  We had a great time.

Baby #2 5 Weeks

How Far Along: 5 weeks today

Total Weight Gain/Loss: No weight gain yet.  I am already getting a belly and my pants are getting tight.

Maternity Clothes: Not yet, but I think it will be pretty early this time

Gender: No idea!

Movement: Not yet.

Sleep: I have been so tired, but some of that has been from being sick.

What I miss: Nothing.

Cravings: Nothing much this week.  Being sick kind of messed me up.  I would really want to eat something and a couple of bites in I would be completely sick of it.

Symptoms: Nausea.

Best Moment this week: Picking out a girl name.  We now have a boy and a girl name.  It's Sullivan Isaiah if it is a boy and Finnley Layne (not sure on spelling yet) if it's a girl.
