Fish party and fun at the park today

Kelly's Korner is having a day to share kids' parties, so I thought that I would join in.  She actually did one around the time Graesen was born, and when we were approaching his first birthday I looked at it to get ideas for the party.  We were on a pretty tight budget for Graesen's party since Evan was out of work for about a month around that time.  Pretty much everything was homemade and we were blessed to have family and friends offer to chip in by bringing a dish or some balloons.  It ended up just perfect.  I loved it and I know that Graesen did too.  I chose to throw a fish party for Graesen, because my parents let us use their yard and pool for the party.  It seemed fitting to have a fish themed party when we would be swimming.
The main table and setup:

I made the banner that hung between the trees and the one on Graesen's high chair.

I printed out large photos we took when Graesen was heading home from the hospital and just a couple weeks before his birthday.  I just used frames we had around the house instead of buying new ones.  I also set out a photobook I had made of Graesen's first year and his going home outfit.

I hung Graesen's monthly pictures from the tree:

Fish food: swedish fish, gold fish, blue punch with a fish in it, fish cupcakes, and two fish cakes.  I made all the cupcakes and cakes on my own to save money.  Not exactly professional quality, but it didn't really matter :)  Favors in Graesen's blue Easter basket: swedish fish, fish stickers, and bubbles.  Each kid also got to take home a little sea creature that had been floating in the kiddie pool.
A little pool  in the middle of all the chairs for adults so the kids could splash around during presents and food if they wanted to.

I spent about 5 or 6 dollars on a Carter's outfit that had a fish on it.  Pretty good deal!

Other party pictures:

I am planning a bug party for this year...

*And here are today's pictures, since I am doing the whole daily picture thing.  After days of rain/snow we finally had some nice weather, so we took Graesen to the park after work.  He spent a good amount of time playing on the steps of the school.
