Halloween prep

Yesterday Graesen and I did a little shopping to throw together a costume for me and order cookies for our class party.  A bunch of the teachers are all doing a Peter Pan theme and I am going to be Peter Pan.  I only have one male coworker, so Peter Pan is going to be a girl this time :)

We got a cup of those chicken bites at Walmart since it was dinner time.  Graesen loves those things

I had to create a hat, so then Graesen wanted one too.  I quickly made him a little hat.  He kept sticking his finger in his nose every time I tried to get a picture!  I kept telling him to stop, so then he would smile and do it again.  Little stinker!

Today we carved a pumpkin as a class.  Each kid got to choose something about the jack o' lantern.  Graesen chose the circle nose.

A little extra

I got a little extra time with Graesen today, as he didn't go to his dad's until late afternoon.  I loved it.  I have so missed our Sunday afternoons together.  I am so grateful for all the time I do get with him, but I still miss him each week when he goes for his overnight.

After church we went shopping for Operation Christmas Child.  Graesen really did good with understanding that the gifts were for someone other than him, especially considering there were matchbox cars in the gift.  He did, however, keep saying that he thought someone should send him a box too :)

We did some raking this afternoon.  We get so many leaves in our yard, I just hope they all fall (and I can rake them up) before it snows.  Graesen is too short to get his leaves in the yard waste bin, so I let him put them in our old recycle bin, then I would empty it for him.  He has actually been asking to rake leaves with me for a couple of weeks, so he was happy to finally do it.

*It didn't take long for me to realize I dressed him to warmly :)  We definitely had to take some layers off !
After raking we fit in a walk around the block in the wagon, some lego playtime, and a visit with my grandparents.  So grateful for the extra time with my little guy today :)

Leaves

I am finally getting around to getting a post done.  I have just been so tired by the end of the night lately, that it's hard to stay up to post.

Thursday night Graesen was really into playing Starfall.  He loves to "read" the books on there.  While I was cooking he shouted out to me that "W is like snow."  I said, "Do you mean there is a 'w' in snow?"  That is what he meant.  I am just so impressed with how quickly he is picking stuff up lately.

Friday we made mini pizzas as a class for letter 'Pp' week.  While I took a few kids with me to go put the pizzas in the oven another teacher let the other kids play with shaving cream.  Graesen loved it :)

This morning Graesen and I went for a walk in a pretty park.  Unfortunately, it was rather wet and grey outside, but we still had fun.

This afternoon we went to the costume/coloring contest at Fred Meyer.  Graesen didn't get his name drawn, but he did love making a cake :)

"I wanted you to save me"

I started a growth group at church tonight.  It works out nicely, because on Wednesdays Graesen and I can go to the church dinner right after work and then he stays in the nursery.  When I came back to get Graesen I found out that he had smashed his finger.  He and some other kids were playing a little too wild and were told to calm down, but the didn't.  Graesen's finger was still swollen when I got there even though it had been iced :(
Later in the night I asked Graesen if he had fun in the nursery.  He said that he did, but that he wanted me when he got hurt.  He said, "I wanted you to save me."  It is so sweet how little kids have such complete faith that their parents have the ability to "save" them from anything that hurts or is unpleasant.

When the kids woke up from nap today they wanted to cut some decorative paper that I had out.  I let them go for it while I worked on wiping down nap mats.  I showed the kids that the paper was actually sticker paper.  Graesen made some of his own stickers.  Aren't they beautiful? :)

Pumpkin carving and the last couple of days

Sunday I just got a couple of pictures of Graesen eating his doughnut at church.  I always love how cute he looks all dressed up :)

Graesen was in a really silly mood for a while last night:

Our playground at my work is just covered in red leaves right now.  I love it :)

I had a work meeting tonight, so Graesen went to my parents' house and hung out with Phoebe (they babysit once a week).  We were going to carve pumpkins, but my meeting went late, so they started without me.  Unfortunately, Graesen had lost interest by the time I got there.  He did, however, tell me that the eye I was making on the pumpkin looked like a "G," so his pumpkin ended up saying his name instead of having a face.

Busy fun

We have had a really busy week.  Yesterday we started off the day with a follow up doctor appointment for Graesen's pneumonia.  He is totally better now :)

My coworker and I took our kids for a walk yesterday.  I got some cute pictures of all the kids together, but I can only share the ones of just Graesen on here.

After work we went with my mom and Phoebe to our church's carousel night.  The church rents out the carousel and anyone who brings canned food for the food bank (and a snack to share) can ride the carousel for free as many times as they want.  This was so much fun for Graesen and Phoebe.

Today we went with my family to go pick our pumpkins.  It was windy and very cold, so we didn't stay too long, but the kids had fun.

Tonight I had my family over to my house for dinner and gifts for my mom's birthday.  Now I am tired and very ready to sleep.
