Anything is possible

Today was our last day of VBS.  We did a sky theme this week and everything was based around the concept that anything is possible with God.  Graesen absolutely loved VBS.  This morning he and a few of my other students all got as close to the stage as they could for the music :)

Tonight we had a bbq.  The kids sang their songs, we ate, and then it was time for some water fun.  There were baby pools, blow up water slides, sprinklers, and water guns.  Graesen was a intimidated by the large crowds of kids climbing up the slides and the water spraying down on their heads.  He watched in the "splash zone" for a long time.  He finally decided he was ready to go down one of the slides when the water was turned down a little.  I didn't realize that two of the ladder rungs were broken.  He got half way up and was stuck.  Kids were literally climbing over the top of him and he couldn't figure out how to get up or down :(  Luckily a couple of nice older kids helped him to reach over to me on the side so I could get him down.  At the end of the night they turned of the water spray on the other slide and Graesen went down it then.  We have a water day at school next week and will be using the slides again then.  I think Graesen will love it then when it is done in the heat of the day, with far fewer kids (15ish rather than a couple hundred), and with the water spray on a little lower for the little kids.

The question for the Jenna's Journey challenge for today is about your hobbies.  Basically I run and like to take pictures of Graesen.  I don't really have time for anything else right now.

My favorite

Tonight Graesen said, "Mommy, you're my favorite."  He's a good one I tell you :)

The question for the Jenna's Journey challenge today was about what kinds of social media you use.  I have a facebook and a pinterest account, but I don't link them on here since they have my last name and personal info.  I know, super boring answer :)

Little Disciple

Graesen is just loving VBS this week.  While VBS does not really start until age 4 (Graesen is still 2 for another 2 weeks) my bosses decided to try and incorporate the daycare kids into VBS this year.  We are doing a modified version of VBS.  We do a lot of the stuff, but don't play the big kid games and do different crafts.
Today during chapel Graesen was chosen to dress up like a disciple and help put on a skit about Lazarus.  It was so cute :)  He keeps asking me all night why Lazarus had an "owie."

Every night I ask Graesen what he wants to thank God for.  Tonight one of the things he wanted to pray for were the decorations at VBS.  I think the little guy likes VBS :)

Day two of the commenting challenge I am doing asks why you  blog.  I started blogging when Graesen was almost two months old.  I had been reading blogs for a while and loved the idea of recording your life.  I started blogging so that family could see how Graesen was doing, and so that I had something to look back on and remember all the little details in Graesen's life.  I really love being able to see what we did on any given day.
The last year or so have been really tough, so my blog kind of transitioned to include our walk through some big struggles and life changes.  I have written about health issues, divorce, miscarriage, and so much more.  It was a way for me to work through my thoughts and pain each night.  Now it gives me something to look back on and say, "we got through it."  I can see how God was working through each of those painful times.

Me

I decided to join the Jenna's Journey commenting challenge.  I have done it before, but this is the first time there is a prompt for what to write about.  Today is just a quick introduction about yourself, so here goes:

My name is Janelle.  I am a 26 year old newly single mom (as in I am literally in the middle of a divorce).  I never imagined I would get divorced, but I know that God will use this situation to do great things.  My son, Graesen, will be 3 on July 11th.  He is a high energy, yet very sweet, little boy who I am absolutely crazy about.

For 3 years I worked as a substitute teacher, which was great because I only worked a couple of days a week.  I loved all the time I got with Graesen.  This winter, when I realized that my marriage was over, I knew I had to find a different job fast.  My church called me (for a position I didn't even know was open!) and offered me a job as a full time daycare/preschool teacher.  It was a HUGE blessing and an answer to prayer.  Graesen even gets to come to work with me part time and be in my class!

So now life is very busy.  During the week it is go, go, go and by the weekends Graesen and I are exhausted and my poor cat, Walter, is desperate for attention after spending most of the week on his own.  Our life is crazy, but God is at work in it and I am so grateful for the blessings He gives.

Hiking man

Graesen gave an offering at church today.  He has been working each week (by doing little chores) to earn $1 in dimes.  He puts one dime in his offering jar each week.  This week I decided it was time to take his offering jar to church.  It was pretty cute to watch him "give his money to Jesus."
VBS starts tomorrow and all my kids will be a part of it.  There are decorations everywhere, so I got a picture of Graesen by some of them.

This afternoon Graesen and I went to a park by the river for a hike.  He is so funny.  He insisted on bringing his own camera and would stop and say, "I want to take of picture of the rocks," or insist that I pose for his camera.

Tonight we had dinner at my parents' house.  Graesen usually just eats in his underpants if he is at home or with family.  I hate stains on clothes and so this is a way to make sure that his clothes stay nice.  After dinner he wanted to play outside right away.  He was so hyper!

Denial

I am in denial.  It cannot be possible that my baby is going to be 3! in 2 1/2 weeks.  I took him out today to get some pictures for his birthday invitation.  He looked way too old which broke my heart.  Who told him he could grow up so fast?

This morning Graesen played in a box while I cleaned.  Boxes are super exciting to Graesen.

The sunset on our run tonight was super pretty :)

Yesterday I got kind of lame pictures.  Graesen was super excited about a dollar bin find I got from Michael's.

A really cool kid

One of my co-workers was laughing at Graesen today and he said, "He is a really cool kid."  I have to say, I totally agree.  :)
